Trip Description

Manaslu Circuit Trek is one of the best treks in Nepal. It has recently risen in popularity which is remote and off-the-beaten-path. This is in comparison to the better-known teahouse treks in Nepal. The tour takes you to the Manaslu Conservation Area where you may view the eight highest mountains in the world. You will get the opportunity to visit various places like Sotikhola, Machha Khola, Jagat, Deng, Namrung.  
 
Trekkers may also view the natural beauty of the region where there are abundant forests, rivers, flora, and fauna. There is Larky La Pass which is the highest point on the trek. Similarly, you may trek to Samdo where you will get the opportunity to rest and view the place. Other places like Bhimtang, Dharamsala, Tilije, and Tal are much more attractive to the trekkers. You may discover these places and gain much more knowledge and experience. 
 
Moreover, there are friendly people with rich culture and tradition. They include Nepalese and Tibetan ethnic groups. On the other hand, abundant wildlife including Tahr, Agali, Pika, and Himalayan Marmots. 
 

Outlined Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrival in Kathmandu

On this day, our tour begins from the capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu. Our representative will come to pick you at the airport. From there, you will be taken away to our respective hotel for relaxation. We may also go for the short shopping if you are willing.

Day 2 : Kathmandu: sightseeing and trek preparation

Before heading to the Himalayas you must be familiar with quite a few things. Guidance and research for the trek are mandatory for everyone. You will be dealing with a strange experience but finally, with some groundwork, you can deal with it. You should be cautious with your bag pack. Carrying needless equipment will make your journey difficult. We will grasp up on some final shopping if there is free time.

Day 3 : Drive from Kathmandu to Sotikhola

On this day, we will be heading towards Sotikhola. You can get a straight bus at 6 am and 8 am. You may also take the bus to Dhading or Malekhu on the Prithvi Highway. After that, you may take the local bus. Here the roads are dusty and bumpy. However, you will catch the best landscape views from your window seat.  The overnight stay will be at Sotikhola. On the next day, we will be prepared for another trip.

Day 4 : Trek to Machha Khola

On this day, we will be walking across the twisting road on the bank of the Buri Gandaki River. You will get the opportunity to witness many monkeys and langurs as you enter. On this day, we will walk to the Gurung villages. You will notice the shepherds in a typical smoke-browned cape. On walking further, we will come along “Tatopani”. You may take the hot water shower where you may relax your soaring body. After that, we will cross a new suspension bridge over Budi Gandaki. Overnight stay will be at Machha Khola.

Day 5 : Trek to Jagat

You will start walking across the twisting road on the bank of the Budi Gandaki River. The forest path shows you many monkeys and langurs. After the forest, you will walk to other Gurung villages. In that village, you will notice a typical smoke-browned cape called Bakkhu. On entering, you will have to verify your trekking permits at the check post here. After that, we will be walking in the restricted region.

Day 6 : Trek to Deng

After the humid breakfast in the village of Jagat, you will pass through a variety of landscapes and thick sub-tropical forests, rivers, and villages to get to your last destination. Trek begins from climbing over an edge to Salleri and tending to Sirdibas. Through the Ghatta River, you will carry on to walk on an extensive suspension bridge in Philim. From here the trail crosses millet fields to Ekle Bhatti. The trek widens through the valley and you will pass through a beautiful bamboo forest to the Deng Khola.

Day 7 : Trek to Nemrung

After the sunrise, we will be having breakfast and then start the trek for the day. Before we ascend the winding path, we will walk across the bamboo forest to reach Deng. Moving further, we will be crossing a suspension bridge to climb Rana and Bihi Phedi. On the path, we can see white-faced monkeys that are visiting villages on the lookout for a fee feed. After about 1 hour on the uneven path, we will climb to the village of Namrung. Overnight stay will be at Nemrung.

Day 8 : Trek to Samagon

On this day, we will wake up early in the morning to reach another destination. You will be provided breakfast early in the morning. As you start walking, you will come closer to dense forests, rivers, valleys, and rhododendron. You will also see the local clad in most of the traditional Tibetan dress. You may also catch the stunning views of Manaslu, Manaslu North. After few hours, we will arrive at Samagon.

Day 9 : Samagon: Rest and acclimatization hike to Pungyen Gompa

This is the day of acclimatization at Sama Gaon. You are suggested to prevent altitude-related illness. As an acclimatization hike, we will walk to Pungyen Gompa. This is located on the east of the Nubri valley. You can bring your lunch and also try it out at the rest stops for energy. Like other days, you will be walking across the roaring river which keeps you engaged. On the next day, we will trek to Samdo.

Day 10 : Trek to Samdo

On this day, we will be moving towards Samdo. You are at a high altitude. So, you need to walk slowly on this day. Here, you will notice extended yak pastures up a broad valley. There are long Mani walls with a variety of birds. From there, you will leave the tree line and climb to a ridge. You will walk across the wooden bridge of Budhi Gandaki. After few hours, we will reach Samdo.

Day 11 : Samdo: Rest and acclimatization

As a day for rest, we will stop at Samdo. Here, you will go for a day trip to the Tibetan border. From there, you may also observe parts of Tibet and Nepal. You can also observe the Yak caravan fleeting the border. If you look towards the south of Samdo Glacier, you will get exceptional photos of an enormous serac near the top of the glacier. There you may also frame Blue Sheep, Pica’s and Marmots in season. On the next day, we will be reaching another destination.

Day 12 : Trek to Dharamsala

This is another adventurous day where you will be climbing high altitude. Here, you must watch your body signs properly. You may enjoy the scenic views of the chain of the Himalayas. There you will walk across the rugged terrains of the Manaslu region. After few hours of trek, you will reach Dharamsala.

Day 13 : Trek to Bhimthang via Larka La Pass

This is a special day where you will walk to the highest point of the path. You will walk to Larky La Pass on this day. It’s a more challenging path but you will encounter several villages, glacier lakes, and a wide range of flora and fauna. After a little climb, you will arrive at a valley on the north side of the Larkya Glacier. From there, you can enjoy great views of Cho Danda. After few hours, we will reach Bhimtang. Overnight stay will be there.

Day 14 : Trek to Tilije

After breakfast, we head out to a nearby ridge where you can enjoy great views of Manaslu, Lamjung Himal, Himlung, Cheo Himal. You need to keep descending on the path and cross a high pasture. It is followed by a bridge over the Dudh Khola River. In this way, we walk through a rhododendron forest and follow a path through a narrow valley. You reach the highest cultivated land of the valley at Karche. We will continue walking until we reach Tilije and stay overnight there.

Day 15 : Trek to Tal

On this day, we will cross the bridge over the Dudh Khola River and climb up through a stupa-shaped arch. You will pass a Mani wall before reaching the village of Thonje. We will continue to Dharapani where you will go through a police checkpoint. At this position, you have now exited the Manaslu Conservation Area. Now, you will enter the Annapurna protection Area of the trek. Further down, we will cross a bridge over the Marshyangdi Khola River. There will be some mani walls. After few hours, we will reach the village of Tal which is situated at the foot of a large waterfall. Overnight stay will be there.

Day 16 : Trek to Syange

On this day, after breakfast in Tal, we follow the path down a sometimes steep path to the village of Chyamje. There we cross the beautiful Marsyangdi Khola. We will be crossing the suspension bridge. The valley opens with its terrace fields. Also, villages clung very high to the hillsides. The path then descends further through picturesque rhododendron and pine forests. In this way, we get to the village of Syange where we will stay overnight.

Day 17 : Drive to Kathmandu

Today, we wake up with breakfast in Syange. We may take one last walk around the village before we hit the road. The drive towards Kathmandu offers an opportunity to enjoy hill and mountain landscapes. After that, we come across the bank of the Marsyangdi and Trishuli rivers. Moreover, there are beautiful villages with farming terraces on both sides of the road. The overnight stay will be at Kathmandu.

Day 18 : Final Departure

Today is the day to say goodbye to one of the astonishing country Nepal. You may enjoy your last moment with breakfast in a café. A representative will meet you at the hotel. He/She will drive you to the airport for your return flight. It is good to be airport two hours before the actual departure.

You are generally not advised to travel alone because of safety reasons. According to the government of Nepal, there should be at least two trekkers to trek any region. Similarly, you have to trek with a licensed guide while embarking on the Manaslu Circuit trek.
