Trip Description

Tsho Rolpa Lake Trek is one of the least visited trekking routes. It is located in Rolwaling region and the trek takes you to the largest glacial lake in Nepal. It is famous by the name called Tsho Rolpa. The trek provides you the opportunity to visit Gaurishankar Himal that adds beauty to the nature.  The path moves along the Tama Koshi River and also follows Rolwaling River on the upper regions. The tour takes you to the good-looking forest of Rhododendron and Saal, powerful waterfalls, and glaciers. You may view the amazing mountains of the world. You will get the opportunity to visit various places like Dundure Khola, Dhading Besi, etc. 
Trekkers may also view the natural beauty of the region where there are abundant forests, rivers, flora, and fauna. There is Tsho Rolpa where you can enjoy and rest. Similarly, you may visit various places like Manthali, Pikhuti, Dolakha etc. It is one of the most peaceful trekking spots, with a welcoming atmosphere and great kindness. Outlined Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrival at Kathmandu

Your journey begins with your arrival in the bustling capital city of Nepal,
Kathmandu. A representative from our team will arrive for your pickup at TIA
who will assist you together with your luggage and transportation to your hotel. There are no planned activities for the day, so you'll check your hotel and luxuriate in the afternoon and evening at your leisure. You may simply want to rest after your
long flight, but the lively tourist markets and restaurants of the Thamel are an enticing draw for many visitors.

Day 2 : Kathmandu (Sightseeing and trek preparation)

Kathmandu, an ancient and exotic city is the center of Nepali civilization, and
home to hundreds of temples, shrines, and stupas, very popular with the name
“the city of temples”. No trip to Nepal would actually be completed without an
excursion to the religious and cultural attractions of Kathmandu. It is hard to
travel quite 100 feet without passing yet one more temple or stupa while walking by the city itself. The valley tour will take you to the main temples and stupas with visits to palaces and museums in between but if only time favors. A day won’t be enough to have the full city tour; however, your guide will take you to the major attractions of the city including Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath
temple and Swayambhunath.

Day 3 : Kathmandu to Singati by drive

Today, we descend on the wilder path to the Tama Koshi River. Today, we pass fields with rice paddies. You may have to cross the suspension bridge to arrive at Malepu village. The path goes through pine forests with a distant view of Gaurishankar. You have to walk through the Tama Koshi River to reach Pikhuti village. After that, we cross a suspension bridge and descend to the shores of the Tama Koshi River. In this way, we ascend through the rice fields to reach Singati village. Overnight stay will beat this village.

Day 4 : Singati to Jagat

We follow a narrow path along the Tama Koshi River and the valley. After passing the river, we ascend uphill to the mountain road path. You may have to walk on the path on the cliff to arrive at Suri Dhoban. From there, you will get a view of Gaurishankar. After that, we will cross the suspension bridge and ascend uphill passing Mani stones. After that trekkers will reach Manthali village. In this way, we will cross a suspension bridge and follow the river bank to reach Jagat where we will stay overnight.

Day 5 : Jagat to Simigaon

Today, we descend to the river bank and follow the path to the forested zone. There we cross a small village to arrive at Gonggar village. We will ascend to the stone steps so that you can encounter amazing waterfalls. We finish the steps and walk on gentle flanks through the fields. In this way, we reach Sherpa village of Chhetchhet. You will be crossing the suspension bridge and ascend into the forest and through the fields. After that, we continue passing the Chortens to reach Simigaon. Here, mount Gaurishankar rises over the valley. You may explore the Buddhist monastery and other areas in the evening. Overnight stay will be at Simigaon.

Day 6 : Simigaon to Daldung-La Pass

Today, we will say goodbye to the village of Simigaon and head forward towards Daldung-La Pass. We will descend a slope and go around the edge by ascending to the vertical stone steps. We will enter the forest and walk through the up and down path to reach the Rolwaling River. In this way, we climb the forest along with the view of Gaurishankar. You will ascend uphill till the path becomes flat and smooth. In this way, we reach Daldung-La to stay overnight.

Day 7 : Daldung-La Pass to Beding

The path today passes through forests along with ascends and descends. There we will have lunch and rest for a while. After lunch, we walk to the distant and the largest settlement of the region. Beding is popularly known as Sherpa village. There you will get to enjoy snow-capped mountains and waterfalls. In this way, we reach Beding. There is an ancient Gompa at the entry gate of the village. Overnight stay will be at Beding.

Day 8 : Beding to Na

We will start with a slow ascend on the right bank of the Rolwaling River. After that, we reach Kharka in Dhorge. There you will get to observe Gaurishankar Mountain from a different angle. After walking further, the valley slowly opens and becomes U-shaped. Then, we pass huge Mani stone wrapped with prayer flags. The large rock can be seen there on which the image of Bodhisattva is painted. In this way, we reach Na Gaon that is enclosed by stone walls. The village is located at the foot of a huge series of mountains. Overnight stay will be at Na Gaon.

Day 9 : Na to Tsho Rolpa

Today is the most unforgettable and vital moment of the trek. We walk from Na-Gaon to the well-known glacial lake of Tsho Rolpa. Today, early morning we leave Na Gaon and pass the bridge over the Rolwaling river. After that, we ascend uphill to see several kinds of growing meadows. We walk between two glaciers and enter the valley. After that, we continue our walk to Tsho Rolpa Lake. We walk on the moraines of Rolwaling Glacier. After that, we arrive at the mesmerizing Tsho Rolpa Lake. Overnight stay will be at tented camp.

Day 10 : Acclimatization-Explore Tsho Rolpa

Tsho Rolpa is known as the biggest glacial lake in Nepal. You will observe the amazing natural beauty. It is located at over 4,500 meters of altitude. We will amuse the explorer in you. This lake is surrounded by bare hills and snow-capped mountains. It is reflected on the surface of the lake make. Here, you could observe the breathtaking sight. In this way, you will get to enjoy the calm moment, explore the lake and take amazing pictures. You feel definitely proud of the moment spend on Tsho Rolpa Lake.

Day 11 : Tsho Rolpa to Beding

This is an unforgettable journey in the glacial lake of Tsho Rolpa. We retrace our route back following the same track. Then, we will take a short rest at Na Gaon. After that, we start walking to Beding following the path of Rolwaling river. Here, once you arrive at Beding, you shall rest at leisure. In this way, you could also explore the village. Overnight stay will be at Beding.

Day 12 : Beding to Sakpa

On this day, we return to our destination. It is called Shakpa. Trekkers will retrace alongside Rolwaling River. We descend through the forest with a view of Gaurishankar and then reach Shakpa. During the trek, we walk through many up and down paths. You may feel exhausted on your way but our guides are there to help you. The overnight stay will be at Sakpa.

Day 13 : Trek from Sakpa to Manthali

After breakfast, we will be continuing through the same route which we had taken before. In this way, we climb up the trail. Trekkers must pass through several ups and downs and come across suspension bridge. On the way, you will encounter several small villages before reaching Manthali. Overnight stay will be at Manthali.

Day 14 : Manthali to Pikhuti

Today, we walk through a forested area after breakfast. In this way, we continue our treks by climbing ups and downs. On the way, you could come across attractive villages. You will also observe Tama Koshi River alongside. We leave behind Suri Dobhan and Singati Bazzar. After that, we will reach Pikhuti. Overnight stay will be at Pikhuti.

Day 15 : Pikhuti to Dolakha

On this day, we leave Pikhuti and continue to walk by passing the terraced meadows. The meadows are charming. And, we continue to walk until we reach Dolakha. You will follow the path of Tama Kosi River. We pass through several settlements to arrive in the small town of Dolakha. Overnight stay will be at Dolakha.

Day 16 : Drive to Kathmandu

We take the next dramatic morning drive back to Kathmandu. We will wave a heartfelt goodbye to the majestic mountains. The hustle and bustle of Kathmandu may come as something of a surprise after the solitude of the mountains. You’ll be transported to your hotel to spend the rest of the day at your leisure. Feel free to relax or explore the local markets and eateries. There are plenty of great restaurants and bars in Thamel where you can enjoy dinner before returning to your hotel to spend the night. Breakfast is included.

Day 17 : Final Departure

The last morning on your trip to Nepal where you’ll be enjoying a pleasant breakfast while reflecting on all of the memories you have collected on this trek. Approximately three hours before your scheduled flight, you will be taken to Tribhuvan International Airport for your departure. We hope you’ll return to Nepal in the near future to see everything else that it has to offer!

1. Domestic Flight 
The flights are often affected by weather conditions and congestion which may cause delays, sometimes even for several days. We request you to ensure that you have planned for spare days to account for moderate delays, but can't guarantee against longer delays which can even affect your international flight.

2. A typical Trekking hours per day 
A typical day revolves around the Nepal sunrise and sunset, instead of any Western time schedule. You’ll be walking 5-6 hrs each day on an average.

3.  Health Issues 
We recommend you to consult the doctor to discuss the health issues associated with your trek. We also suggest you to bring your own personal first aid kit to supplement the comprehensive. Although, the first aid kit is carried by the Trek Leader.

4. Altitude Sickness 
Many treks in Nepal can take you quite rapidly to high altitudes, so you must give your body the time to acclimatize. If you ascend faster than your body can adapt then you will likely start to develop symptoms of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). Headache is the most common symptom, while nausea, vomiting, fatigue, loss of appetite, dizziness and sleep disturbances are some others.
The best way to adapt to higher altitude is to ascend slowly and gradually. The common method is that you should take 2-3 days to reach 3000m. If traveling to above this height remember to have extra acclimatization days.

5. Safety and security 
You can have Travel Insurance while trekking which is the safest measure. However, there are some measures following which you can implement to ensure safety: 

  • Secure your belongings 
  • Do not flash cash or jewelry 
  • Have an emergency plan 
  • Do not trek alone 
  • Only choose authorized trekking agencies 

6. Insurance 
We recommend you to have an appropriate insurance policy which covers travel in such isolated and mountainous areas, and also includes helicopter rescue from a trusted agency. We recommend you to do a good research and find a reputable insurance agent or insurance specialist.
