Overview

The trek to Everest Base Camp via Gokyo Lake and Chola pass is another interesting and adventurous journey around Khumbu region. Itinerary

  • Day 1: Arrival at Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264ft)

    Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, we offer you pick up facility from the airport and manage your stay at the most comfortable hotel in the city. You get to meet the team of trekkers and together we prepare for the trek. At the evening we offer you lavish welcome dinner with authentic Nepali Cuisine.

  • Day 2: Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing and trek preparation (1,300m/4,264ft)

    We offer you a short trip to historical and cultural sites around Kathmandu valley: Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath Stupa, and Pashupatinath temple. You can also do some souvenir shopping during the sightseeing. After sightseeing, we head back to the hotel and get our clothing and trekking equipment ready and prepare for the trek.

  • Day 3: Fly to Lukla and head to Phakding (2,651m/8,700ft)3-4 hours

    The flight from Kathmandu to Lukla lets you enjoy the beauty of green hills with a background of snowy mountain peaks. The trek begins from Lukla and we head towards Phakding passing through Cheplung village enjoying the sight of Mount Khumbila. We stay for the night at Phakding.

  • Day 4: To Namche Bazar (3,440m/11,283ft)5-6 hours

    We walk the trail passing through pine forest and crossing Dudh Koshi River. We then reach the entrance to Everest National Park. Moving ahead, we reach Namche Bazar, the famous Sherpa village. From Namche Bazar, we can have sight of Mount Everest and Mount Lhotse. We spend the night at Namche Bazar.

  • Day 5: Acclimatization Day (3,440m/11,283ft)

    We stay for a day at Namche Bazar to adjust with the altitude condition. Namche Bazar is the main market area of the region with small local tea houses, restaurants, shops and trading areas around. We explore the areas observing the traditional and cultural Sherpa life. We can also choose to hike to Sagarmatha National Park from where the beautiful sight of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam and others can be visible. Rare species of flora and fauna can be spotted along the way. We end the day thus and get a good night’s sleep in a hotel at Namche Bazar.

  • Day 6: Trek to Dole (4,200m/13,779ft)6-7 hours

    We take the trail uphill from Namche Bazar and walk ahead towards Kyangjuma. From there you get to have spectacular sights of mountainous beauty. Mount Everest, Mount Nuptse, Mount Ama Dablam and various other peaks can be viewed up close from Kyangjuma. Then we take a trail uphill through rhododendron forest and towards Sanasa village. We then reach a junction and take the stone step trail and continue walking through Mongla pass until reaching the bank of Dudh Koshi river. We leave the bank of Dudh Koshi river and hike toward Dole through pine and rhododendron forest. We spend the night in a lodge at Dole.

  • Day 7: To Machhermo (4,470m/14,665ft)4-5 hours

    We take a walk uphill from Dole passing through local tea houses where we can rest and enjoy the scenic beauty. We then head north and can view snowy peaks around. The vegetation and human settlement in this area are sparse and is surrounded by rocky peaks. We then do some uphill and downhill climbing and reach Ngozumba glacier. The trail ahead takes us to Machhermo which has few human settlement areas. We take good night’s rest at Machhermo.

  • Day 8: To Gokyo (4,790m/15,715ft)3-4 hours

    The day’s destination is Gokyo valley where the trek passes through the uphill and flat walk to the base of the rocky mountain. We then cross the bridge and reach the first Gokyo lake: Lonspunga Tsho. We take the trail ahead towards second Gokyo lake: Tanjung Tsho. We then take a walk ahead through the glacier area and reach third Gokyo lake: Gokyo Tsho. Various lodges are scattered around the lakeside. We take a rest enjoying the breathtaking view of landscapes around. We spend the time exploring the lakes and glacier. We spend the night at one of the lodges in Gokyo.

  • Day 9: Acclimatization day

    We spend the day exploring the valley and adjusting the body to the changing environmental situation and increasing altitude. We take photographs enjoying the spectacular snowy beauty around. We hike around the glacier and up to Gokyo Ri from where you can view six beautiful Gokyo lakes. We then walk down and return to the lodge. We spend the night at Gokyo Valley.

  • Day 10: To Dragnak (4,700m/15,419ft)3-4 hours

    Leaving Gokyo lakes behind, we walk ahead through the Ngzumba glacier. The trek through the glacier is exciting as it is filled with icy trails. Various ice lakes and large ice chunks can be viewed along the way. We then descend to Dragnak. The day will be spent exploring the area and spending the night at Dragnak.

  • Day 11: To Chola Pass via Dzongla (4,830m/15,846ft)7-8 hours

    We take a trail uphill and again move ahead through flat trail and finally walk down to the bottom of Chola Pass. We then cross the slippery icy trail and take a steep uphill walk to the top of Chola Pass. From the top of Chola Pass, we can view the wonderful scene of Gokyo valley. The area is decorated with colourful prayer flags. We then catch the trail downhill until finally reaching Dzongla. We will get good night’s sleep at Dzongla.

  • Day 12: To Lobuche (4,910m/16,108ft)4-5 hours

    From Dzongla we take the trail downhill and continue the trek until reaching the trail to Everest Base Camp. The walk through the trail greets you with a magnificent view of mountainous ranges and glacial beauty. We then hike towards Khumbu glacier and explore the area. Heading ahead, we reach Lobuche and spend the night there at a lodge.

  • Day 13: Gorak Shep - Everest Base Camp - Gorak Shep (5,140m/16,863ft)8-9hours

    We take the trail uphill through Khumbu glacier towards Lobuche Pass. The trek passes through slippery rocky icy trails and glacier until finally reaching Gorak Shep that is located at the base of Kala Patthar. We then take the trail to Everest Base Camp. Upon reaching the Everest Base Camp, the spellbinding view of mountain peaks and colourful tents contrasted against the snowy beauty makes you forget the arduous journey. We explore the area for some time and then head back to Gorak Shep and spend the night there at a lodge.

  • Day 14: Hike to Kala Patthar & trek to Pheriche (4,240m/13,910ft)8-9 hours

    We start the walk early in the morning and enjoy the closest view of Mount Everest. The magnificent mountain panorama lures you into taking more pictures. We head back to Gorak Shep and have our breakfast and then we'll head towards Pheriche. And we'll spend the night over there.

  • Day 15: To Namche Bazaar (3,440m/11,283ft)7-8 hours

    The trek passes through brightly coloured rhododendron trees and juniper trees. Walking ahead we cross Dudh Koshi river and pine forests, enjoying mountainous views along the way. We then reach Namche Bazar and stay there overnight. 

  • Day 16: To Lukla (2,652m/8,700ft)6-7 hours

    We take the rocky trail downward toward Dudh Koshi river. Upon crossing the river we head towards Lukla crossing Monjo (Sagarmatha National Park entry and exit). Walking downhill and crossing the suspension bridge over Bhote Koshi river, we walk ahead to Phakding. From Phakding we catch the trail uphill until finally reaching Lukla. Upon reaching Lukla we give a rest to our aching body and spend the night in a lodge.

  • Day 17: To Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264 ft)30-35minutes

    We take a flight back to Kathmandu and upon reaching Kathmandu we might roam around the city for some souvenir shopping. We organize farewell dinner for you and celebrate the successful completion of trek and exchange final greetings and wishes and prepare for final departure.

  • Day 18: Departure day

    Today is the final day and we get ready for the departure. We offer you the facility to drop at the Tribhuvan International Airport. We exchange final greetings and wishes and hope to see each other next time as well. We wish pleasant journey and bid the final goodbye.

    We take the trail uphill through Khumbu glacier towards Lobuche Pass. The trek passes through slippery rocky icy trails and glacier until finally reaching Gorak Shep that is located at the base of Kala Patthar. We then take the trail to Everest Base Camp. Upon reaching the Everest Base Camp, the spellbinding view of mountain peaks and colourful tents contrasted against the snowy beauty makes you forget the arduous journey. We explore the area for some time and then head back to Gorak Shep and spend the night there at a lodge.

    Day 14: Hike to Kala Patthar & trek to Pheriche (4,240m/13,910ft)8-9 hours

    We start the walk early in the morning and enjoy the closest view of Mount Everest. The magnificent mountain panorama lures you into taking more pictures. We head back to Gorak Shep and have our breakfast and then we'll head towards Pheriche. And we'll spend the night over there.

    Day 15: To Namche Bazaar (3,440m/11,283ft)7-8 hours

    The trek passes through brightly coloured rhododendron trees and juniper trees. Walking ahead we cross Dudh Koshi river and pine forests, enjoying mountainous views along the way. We then reach Namche Bazar and stay there overnight. 

    Day 16: To Lukla (2,652m/8,700ft)6-7 hours

    We take the rocky trail downward toward Dudh Koshi river. Upon crossing the river we head towards Lukla crossing Monjo (Sagarmatha National Park entry and exit). Walking downhill and crossing the suspension bridge over Bhote Koshi river, we walk ahead to Phakding. From Phakding we catch the trail uphill until finally reaching Lukla. Upon reaching Lukla we give a rest to our aching body and spend the night in a lodge.

    Day 17: To Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264 ft)30-35minutes

    We take a flight back to Kathmandu and upon reaching Kathmandu we might roam around the city for some souvenir shopping. We organize farewell dinner for you and celebrate the successful completion of trek and exchange final greetings and wishes and prepare for final departure.

    Day 18: Departure day

    Today is the final day and we get ready for the departure. We offer you the facility to drop at the Tribhuvan International Airport. We exchange final greetings and wishes and hope to see each other next time as well. We wish pleasant journey and bid the final goodbye.
