Overview

Annapurna circuit trek via Tilicho lake is one of the most famous trekking routes among the various trekking routes around the region. This is because of the famous Tilicho lake at Manang, situated at the highest altitude in the world at 4,919m/16,138ft. This world famous lake has become the trekking destination for many national and international tourists. This trek to Tilicho lake has been specially designed so that you could enjoy the thrill of being near the lake and also trek around the Annapurna region enjoying its beauty and magnificence. 

Trekking around Annapurna region offers you wide range of experiences including observing the magnetic beauty of Himalayan range, exploring the natural beauty and landscapes, experience the walk through the rough and wild terrain and enjoying the observing the traditional and cultural lifestyle of rural people in Nepal. 

The major places we will be visiting during this trek are Manag valley, Thorong La Pass, Muktinath, Jomsom and Pokhara. Manang has a historical significance as being the important place for yak and salt trade between Nepal and Tibet. Similarly, Muktinath (God of Salvation) is one of the religious places in Nepal. The 108 water sprouts and abundant fossils found in this area make it very special for the tourists and religious people.  Moreover, the beautiful mountain peaks like Mount Annapurna, Hiuchuli, Pisang peak, Tilicho peak, Gangapurna and many others accompany you throughout the trek, adding beauty and pleasure to the trek.

 


Itinerary

  • Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1380m/4528ft)

    Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, we offer you pick up facility from the airport and manage your stay at the most comfortable hotel in the city. You get to meet the team of trekkers and together we prepare for the trek. At the evening we offer you lavish welcome dinner with authentic Nepali Cuisine.

  • Day 2: Kathmandu valley Sightseeing and trek preparation

    We offer you a short trip to historical and cultural sites around Kathmandu valley: Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath Stupa and Pashupatinath temple. You can also do some souvenir shopping during the sightseeing. After sightseeing, we head back to the hotel and get our clothing and trekking equipment ready and prepare for the trek.

  • Day 3: Drive to Besisahar(790m/2,591ft) 6-7 hours

    In the early morning, we catch a bus to Besisahar, our destination for the day. The bus heads towards west from Kathmandu. We enjoy the bus ride watching the green scenery around. The bus heads ahead towards Dumre and from there, towards Besisahar. Upon reaching Besisahar we take rest and prepare for our night stay at a lodge.

  • Day 4: Trek from Besisahar to Bahundanda (1,310m/4,297ft) 5-6 hours

    Today we will start our trek from Besisahar. We take a walk through secondary road with Marsyangdi river flowing down below on our right. We cross the checkpoint and move ahead. We then reach a junction where several roads meet. Leaving the trail to Ghalegaon on our left we catch the trail to our right that will take us to Bhulbhule. There are hotels, lodges, temples, telephone facility and has somewhat dense population than other areas. We again cross a checkpoint and head towards Nadi Bazar. On our way, we get to enjoy the beauty of the huge waterfall. We follow the Annapurna route towards Dovan Chaur. There is Nandi Khola on the way and the trail leads us to Lampata which has the Gurung and Tamang settlement area. After a short walk from Lampata, we finally reach Bahundanda. The place has hotels, lodges, a checkpoint, temple, school and also a view tower. We will spend the night at Bahundanda. During the journey, we can enjoy the view of peaks like Manaslu and Himchuli which add beauty to our trek.

  • Day 5: Bahundanda to chyamche (1,430m/4,690ft) 5-6 hours

    We start our trek walking through Annapurna route towards Badalbisauna. From there the walk ahead will take us to Khorikhet which has human settlement area. The trail takes the downhill turn and we descend toward Syange passing through Ghermu and Niuri. The beautiful landscapes and terraced fields make the area more charming and enticing. Moving ahead from Syange we reach the suspension bridge over Marsyangdi river. We cross the bridge and take the trail towards Jagat. We pass through school and temple on our way. We then take the steep uphill trail passing through Tallo Cipla and Mathillo Chipla on our way. The uphill walk will then take us to Ghatte Kholagaon and Purano Jagat. These places have fewer human settlements. On the way, we get to enjoy the beauty of the magnificent waterfall. Finally, we reach Chamje. We will spend the night at Chamje.

  • Day 6: Chyamche to Dharapani (1,943m/6,373ft) 5-6 hours

    We start our trek early in the morning taking the steep uphill climb towards Sattale. The trail here is stone paved and is somewhat difficult than other areas. There is Marsyangdi river flowing on our left. We continue our walk and then reach Tal. The area has hotels, lodges and schools. There are also temples and viewpoint. We can also visit ACAP office there. The village area looks beautiful with thatched houses around. Leaving Tal behind we follow the uphill trail alongside the Marsyangdi river. From there we shortly reach Dharapani. This place has more facilities. There are temples and monasteries. We get to view the Buddhist cultural practices and monasteries and Chhortens being decorated with prayer flags. We will stay overnight at Dharapani.

  • Day 7: Dharapani to Chame (2,630m/8,626ft) 5 hours

    We start our journey early in the morning leaving Dharapani behind and walking towards Danakyu. We pass through Bagarchhap on our way. We also get to view Danakyu river on our way. Passing Timag river, we reach Chaurikharka. We keep walking enjoying the landscapes around and reach Latamro then Thankchowk shortly. There are a school and temple in the area. There is huge Marsyangdi river flowing down below on the right. We walk until reaching Chame. Chame is the headquarter of Manang district and there is also a unique large white gate. We stay for the night at Chame.

  • Day 8: Chame to Pisang (3,200m/10,496ft) 5 hours

    The trek starts early from Chame towards Talekhu. We continue following the Annapurna route and walk ahead. We then reach Bharatang. After a short walk ahead we reach Chemyau Kharka where there is a memorial to Japanese mountaineer Akira Ochiai. We continue our walk and shortly reach Swargadwari bridge. Crossing the bridge and walking for some time will take us to Dhikur Pokhari. We enjoy the beautiful lush green forests around. The area is rich in natural beauty. We then keep walking until reaching Pisang and spend the night there.

  • Day 9: Pisang to Manang (3,540m/11,611ft) 7-8 hours

    Today we leave Pisang and head for Manag. We will be doing many uphill and downhill walk today. Our first stop will be Ghyaru. The village has the sparse population and has a monastery. From there we head towards Humde passing through Mani walls on our way. We pass through many temples and Gompas on our way. The trail then takes us to Bhraka. We then cross the bridge over the Ghatte Khola and finally reach Manang. There is a beautiful village and the place is famous for the beautiful landscape and natural beauty. The night will be spent at Manang.

  • Day 10: Manang to Khangsar (3,745m/12,286ft) 2-3 hours

    From Manag, we leave the trail leading to Tanki Manag and head left towards Kangsar. We get to view Thorong Khola, Gangapurna Tal and Gangapurna Khola. The place is rich with natural beauty. We explore the area and spend our night at Khangsar.

  • Day 11: Khangsar to Tilicho Base Camp (4,140m/13,583ft) 4-5 hours

    Leaving Kangsar behind we head towards Tilicho Base Camp. On the way, we pass through Thare Gompa. We walk through the trail alongside the huge Marsyangdi river. After many uphill and downhill walk, we finally reach Tilicho Base Camp. The place is dry and is surrounded by rocky mountains with snowy tips. The view is spellbinding. We will spend the night at the base camp.

  • Day 12: Hike to Tilicho Lake (4,949m/16,138 ft) and Trek back to Tilicho Base Camp

    From the Tilicho Base Camp, we will hike to Tilicho lake today. We hike until reaching the lake. Tilicho lake is situated at the highest altitude in the world at 4,919m/16,138ft. The lake is formed by the glacial melt from Mount Tilicho peak and Thorong peak. The place is cold, dry and barren. We also see prayer flags hanging around the area. We enjoy the thrill and take pictures together. We then head back to the base camp for our night stay.

  • Day 13: Tilicho Base Camp to Yak Kharka (4018m/13179ft) 5-6 hours

    From the base camp, we walk through the trail that takes us back to Kangsar.  From there we head uphill towards Upper Khansar and then downhill towards Thorung river. After we cross the bridge over Thorung river, We move ahead towards Ghyanchang river. We cross the bridge and walk until reaching Yak Kharka and prepare for our night stay there. 

  • Day 14: Yak kharka to Thorung Phedi (4,450m/14,596ft) 4-5 hours

    From Yak Kharka we walk ahead uphill towards Ledar. We then reach Ledar. We then walk ahead enjoying the view of Kone Khola on our way. After crossing Kone Khola over the bridge and walk ahead towards Thorong river.we then cross a bridge over Thorong river and walk ahead towards tea house. We then reach teahouse. There is a landslide area on the way to Thorong Phedi and we have to be extra careful in this area. From Landside area after walking for some time we finally reach Thorong Phedi. We will be spending the night there.

  • Day 15: Thorung Phedi to Muktinath (3800m/12,464ft) via Thorung Pass (5,416m/17,764ft) 8-9 hours

    We start our walk leaving Thorong Phedi behind and towards Thorong Base Camp. We then walk uphill towards Thorong La pass. It is the world’s biggest pass. From there the trail takes us through Thorong Khola and passing Champarbuk. Further ahead we reach a barren and hilly area. From there a walk for some will take us to Muktinath. It is the place with huge religious significance both for Hindus and Buddhists. There are many other temples around the area. People take bath in the 108 water sprouts with a belief that it will clean away the sins and consider the water holy. We explore the area and spend the night at Muktinath.

  • Day 16: Muktinath to Jomsom (2713m/8,908ft) 4-5 hours

    Today we will be heading towards Jomsom. We will pass through many villages on our way to Jomsom. We take a walk downhill and then along the bank of Kaligandaki river. We might have to face the strong wind on our way to Jomsom. We pass through Jhong and Putak on our way. We also get to enjoy the beauty of Jhong Khola. We then leave the trail to upper Mustang and catch the trail to Kagbeni. From there we head downhill towards Ekle Bhatti and finally to Jomsom. Upon reaching Jomsom we will take rest and prepare for our night stay at the lodge there.

  • Day 17: Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara (20minutes)

    We take an early flight from Jomsom to Pokhara. We spend the day exploring the lake city and other religious, historical and tourist places around. We will be spending the night in a lodge at Pokhara.

  • Day 18: Pokhara to Kathmandu by bus (7-8 hours)

    Today we head back to Kathmandu from Pokhara. We take good rest and soothe our aching muscles. We also muse over the exciting trek we had. At Kathmandu, we organize farewell dinner for you and celebrate the successful completion of the trek and prepare for final departure.

  • Day 19: Departure Day

    Today is the final day and we get ready for the departure. We offer you the facility to drop at the Tribhuvan International Airport. We exchange final greetings and wishes and hope to see each other next time as well. We wish pleasant journey and bid the final goodbye.

    In the early morning, we catch a bus to Besisahar, our destination for the day. The bus heads towards west from Kathmandu. We enjoy the bus ride watching the green scenery around. The bus heads ahead towards Dumre and from there, towards Besisahar. Upon reaching Besisahar we take rest and prepare for our night stay at a lodge.

    Day 4: Trek from Besisahar to Bahundanda (1,310m/4,297ft) 5-6 hours

    Today we will start our trek from Besisahar. We take a walk through secondary road with Marsyangdi river flowing down below on our right. We cross the checkpoint and move ahead. We then reach a junction where several roads meet. Leaving the trail to Ghalegaon on our left we catch the trail to our right that will take us to Bhulbhule. There are hotels, lodges, temples, telephone facility and has somewhat dense population than other areas. We again cross a checkpoint and head towards Nadi Bazar. On our way, we get to enjoy the beauty of the huge waterfall. We follow the Annapurna route towards Dovan Chaur. There is Nandi Khola on the way and the trail leads us to Lampata which has the Gurung and Tamang settlement area. After a short walk from Lampata, we finally reach Bahundanda. The place has hotels, lodges, a checkpoint, temple, school and also a view tower. We will spend the night at Bahundanda. During the journey, we can enjoy the view of peaks like Manaslu and Himchuli which add beauty to our trek.

    Day 5: Bahundanda to chyamche (1,430m/4,690ft) 5-6 hours

    We start our trek walking through Annapurna route towards Badalbisauna. From there the walk ahead will take us to Khorikhet which has human settlement area. The trail takes the downhill turn and we descend toward Syange passing through Ghermu and Niuri. The beautiful landscapes and terraced fields make the area more charming and enticing. Moving ahead from Syange we reach the suspension bridge over Marsyangdi river. We cross the bridge and take the trail towards Jagat. We pass through school and temple on our way. We then take the steep uphill trail passing through Tallo Cipla and Mathillo Chipla on our way. The uphill walk will then take us to Ghatte Kholagaon and Purano Jagat. These places have fewer human settlements. On the way, we get to enjoy the beauty of the magnificent waterfall. Finally, we reach Chamje. We will spend the night at Chamje.

    Day 6: Chyamche to Dharapani (1,943m/6,373ft) 5-6 hours

    We start our trek early in the morning taking the steep uphill climb towards Sattale. The trail here is stone paved and is somewhat difficult than other areas. There is Marsyangdi river flowing on our left. We continue our walk and then reach Tal. The area has hotels, lodges and schools. There are also temples and viewpoint. We can also visit ACAP office there. The village area looks beautiful with thatched houses around. Leaving Tal behind we follow the uphill trail alongside the Marsyangdi river. From there we shortly reach Dharapani. This place has more facilities. There are temples and monasteries. We get to view the Buddhist cultural practices and monasteries and Chhortens being decorated with prayer flags. We will stay overnight at Dharapani.

    Day 7: Dharapani to Chame (2,630m/8,626ft) 5 hours

    We start our journey early in the morning leaving Dharapani behind and walking towards Danakyu. We pass through Bagarchhap on our way. We also get to view Danakyu river on our way. Passing Timag river, we reach Chaurikharka. We keep walking enjoying the landscapes around and reach Latamro then Thankchowk shortly. There are a school and temple in the area. There is huge Marsyangdi river flowing down below on the right. We walk until reaching Chame. Chame is the headquarter of Manang district and there is also a unique large white gate. We stay for the night at Chame.

    Day 8: Chame to Pisang (3,200m/10,496ft) 5 hours

    The trek starts early from Chame towards Talekhu. We continue following the Annapurna route and walk ahead. We then reach Bharatang. After a short walk ahead we reach Chemyau Kharka where there is a memorial to Japanese mountaineer Akira Ochiai. We continue our walk and shortly reach Swargadwari bridge. Crossing the bridge and walking for some time will take us to Dhikur Pokhari. We enjoy the beautiful lush green forests around. The area is rich in natural beauty. We then keep walking until reaching Pisang and spend the night there.

    Day 9: Pisang to Manang (3,540m/11,611ft) 7-8 hours

    Today we leave Pisang and head for Manag. We will be doing many uphill and downhill walk today. Our first stop will be Ghyaru. The village has the sparse population and has a monastery. From there we head towards Humde passing through Mani walls on our way. We pass through many temples and Gompas on our way. The trail then takes us to Bhraka. We then cross the bridge over the Ghatte Khola and finally reach Manang. There is a beautiful village and the place is famous for the beautiful landscape and natural beauty. The night will be spent at Manang.

    Day 10: Manang to Khangsar (3,745m/12,286ft) 2-3 hours

    From Manag, we leave the trail leading to Tanki Manag and head left towards Kangsar. We get to view Thorong Khola, Gangapurna Tal and Gangapurna Khola. The place is rich with natural beauty. We explore the area and spend our night at Khangsar.

    Day 11: Khangsar to Tilicho Base Camp (4,140m/13,583ft) 4-5 hours

    Leaving Kangsar behind we head towards Tilicho Base Camp. On the way, we pass through Thare Gompa. We walk through the trail alongside the huge Marsyangdi river. After many uphill and downhill walk, we finally reach Tilicho Base Camp. The place is dry and is surrounded by rocky mountains with snowy tips. The view is spellbinding. We will spend the night at the base camp.

    Day 12: Hike to Tilicho Lake (4,949m/16,138 ft) and Trek back to Tilicho Base Camp

    From the Tilicho Base Camp, we will hike to Tilicho lake today. We hike until reaching the lake. Tilicho lake is situated at the highest altitude in the world at 4,919m/16,138ft. The lake is formed by the glacial melt from Mount Tilicho peak and Thorong peak. The place is cold, dry and barren. We also see prayer flags hanging around the area. We enjoy the thrill and take pictures together. We then head back to the base camp for our night stay.

    Day 13: Tilicho Base Camp to Yak Kharka (4018m/13179ft) 5-6 hours

    From the base camp, we walk through the trail that takes us back to Kangsar.  From there we head uphill towards Upper Khansar and then downhill towards Thorung river. After we cross the bridge over Thorung river, We move ahead towards Ghyanchang river. We cross the bridge and walk until reaching Yak Kharka and prepare for our night stay there. 

    Day 14: Yak kharka to Thorung Phedi (4,450m/14,596ft) 4-5 hours

    From Yak Kharka we walk ahead uphill towards Ledar. We then reach Ledar. We then walk ahead enjoying the view of Kone Khola on our way. After crossing Kone Khola over the bridge and walk ahead towards Thorong river.we then cross a bridge over Thorong river and walk ahead towards tea house. We then reach teahouse. There is a landslide area on the way to Thorong Phedi and we have to be extra careful in this area. From Landside area after walking for some time we finally reach Thorong Phedi. We will be spending the night there.

    Day 15: Thorung Phedi to Muktinath (3800m/12,464ft) via Thorung Pass (5,416m/17,764ft) 8-9 hours

    We start our walk leaving Thorong Phedi behind and towards Thorong Base Camp. We then walk uphill towards Thorong La pass. It is the world’s biggest pass. From there the trail takes us through Thorong Khola and passing Champarbuk. Further ahead we reach a barren and hilly area. From there a walk for some will take us to Muktinath. It is the place with huge religious significance both for Hindus and Buddhists. There are many other temples around the area. People take bath in the 108 water sprouts with a belief that it will clean away the sins and consider the water holy. We explore the area and spend the night at Muktinath.

    Day 16: Muktinath to Jomsom (2713m/8,908ft) 4-5 hours

    Today we will be heading towards Jomsom. We will pass through many villages on our way to Jomsom. We take a walk downhill and then along the bank of Kaligandaki river. We might have to face the strong wind on our way to Jomsom. We pass through Jhong and Putak on our way. We also get to enjoy the beauty of Jhong Khola. We then leave the trail to upper Mustang and catch the trail to Kagbeni. From there we head downhill towards Ekle Bhatti and finally to Jomsom. Upon reaching Jomsom we will take rest and prepare for our night stay at the lodge there.

    Day 17: Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara (20minutes)

    We take an early flight from Jomsom to Pokhara. We spend the day exploring the lake city and other religious, historical and tourist places around. We will be spending the night in a lodge at Pokhara.

    Day 18: Pokhara to Kathmandu by bus (7-8 hours)

    Today we head back to Kathmandu from Pokhara. We take good rest and soothe our aching muscles. We also muse over the exciting trek we had. At Kathmandu, we organize farewell dinner for you and celebrate the successful completion of the trek and prepare for final departure.

    Day 19: Departure Day

    Today is the final day and we get ready for the departure. We offer you the facility to drop at the Tribhuvan International Airport. We exchange final greetings and wishes and hope to see each other next time as well. We wish pleasant journey and bid the final goodbye.
